Morning
Arrival in Canale d’Agordo
• Visit to the archpriest church of St. John the Baptist, where Albino Luciani received the first sacraments (spiritual welcome from the parish priest of Canale d’Agordo or from a delegate of his; for information concerning mass celebration and Pope Luciani Stations of the Cross or to ask for masses, prayers and confessions, please contact the Parish of St. John the Baptist: tel. 0437.590280; e-mail: donbaldovin@gmail.com).
• Explanation of the altar with the altar screen depicting Pope Luciani’s life, the baptistery where Albino Luciani and Felice Cappello, the Servants of God, were baptized; pause in front of the statue of Albino Luciani representing humility.In front of it there is a register into which the many pilgrims ask and get small and big graces from God by the intercession of John Paul I.
• Visit to Pope Luciani museum, temporarily set in the priest’s house (it will be transferred to the new building, probably in 2012): library reorganized by young Albino Luciani from 1929 to 1931 when he was a seminarian; pictures and personal souvenir exhibition of the Pontiff; possibility to watch a documentary lasting about 25 minutes on demand.
• Guided tour of the historical center of Canale d’Agordo: Pope Luciani’s Birthplace (exterior); first cooperative dairy in Italy (1872); ‘Casa delle Regole’ (House of the Rules) (1640); tombs of pope Luciani’s parents and brother; “Memorial Garden” for the victims of the tragic Russia campaign and retreat during World War II.
• Free time for shopping or relax.

Choice between
• Visit (or possible celebration) to the artistic Stations of the Cross dedicated to Pope Luciani. The Cross Stations are a work by Franco Murer (located in the wood of Cavallera between Piazza della Pieve in Canale d’Agordo and the village of Caviola). The route on forest road can be covered on foot in about half an hour. Believers with walking problems can wait for the group on the main square of the village.
• Visit to the marvellous Gares Valley where Albino Luciani grazed the cattle when he was a child; pause and walk across “Pian de Giare” where you can admire the mountains around and the Comelle Falls. It is possible to visit the interesting biotope with many floral and animal species in the small Gares lake nearby.
• Visit to the “Museum of Dairy” (1886) located in the near village of Fedèr.

Guided tour for groups of 20 or more:
Half-day guided tour: € 3,00 per person
All-day guided tour: € 5,00 per person
Lunch: € 18,00 per person
All inclusive, at the restaurant Val Gares in Canale d’Agordo. Lunch consists of two typical dishes (first dish, second dish and vegetables) + coffee, wine and water and has to be arranged with the restaurant keeper.

There is the possibility of requiring more expensive menu by directly asking the restaurant.
