Papa.
The Pope Luciani Foundation of Canale d'Agordo was founded in August 2009. Its aim is to encourage the spread of information on the figure and actions of Pope John Paul I, the Servant of God, born Albino Luciani in Canale d'Agordo on 17 October 1912 and whose death occurred at the Vatican on the night between the 28 and 29 September 1978, after 33 days of Pontificate.

For this reason, the Foundation is building a big museum with a study centre on the Pontiff in his native village. Besides, it is busy with collecting objects which belonged to him along with the press survey, books and papers about him. One part of the museum will be dedicated to Leni Wittke ( +2004), the German benefactress, as she devoted part of her life to the spreading of the remembrance of Pope John Paul I (see picture).
Whoever has got materials to donate or grant for use to the museum, please call on the addresses mentioned below.
Besides, the Foundation also deals with the organization of services for pilgrims, who visit the native village of the Smiling Pope every year in huge number. It is even busy with the running of a day centre for old people, offering services on the territory.
